The questions are built into the peer review system, so this file does not need to be submitted with the manuscript. When submitting to the journal, authors will be asked to answer the questions on the submission questionnaire (PDF, 212KB). Reports consist of empirical studies that increase theoretical understanding of human perception and performance.Observations will be rejected without review at a higher rate than longer articles. A cover letter should explain why the research is appropriate to present as an observation. Observations are limited to 2,500 words in the main body of the text. Observations facilitate the rapid communication of ground-breaking research of general interest to readers of the journal.Authors are encouraged to consider and discuss the relevance and implications of their work for other areas of psychology, including those that are not typically featured in the journal. The journal also encourages studies with a neuroscientific perspective that contribute to the functional understanding of perception and performance. All sensory modalities and motor systems are within its purview. The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance ® publishes studies on perception, control of action, perceptual aspects of language processing, and related cognitive processes.
